Denmark PhD Visiting Scholarships at SPIRIT- Aalborg University

Up to three visiting scholarships are available at the Doctoral School SPIRIT, Aalborg University, in the Fall 2007. The application deadline is 15 May 2006. Duration of scholarship: 15 August-15 December 2007. Monthly stipend: DKK 7,000 (to cover rent and other living expenses during the stay). In addition to this SPIRIT will cover one round-trip ticket. Who can apply: PhD candidates who are enrolled in a PhD program outside Denmark and whose PhD project falls within one or more of the thematic areas of the doctoral school:

Transnational orders reconstructed, focusing on the nature and origins of processes of internationalisation and globalisation, including the relationship between ‘the west and the rest’, cultural exchange through history, securitization, and alternative futures for ‘developing’ countries.
Interregional transformations, focusing on both macro-regional processes such as integration within the EU and NAFTA, and sub-national regionalism as processes related to identity, governance, and economic development strategies.
Global and local identities, focusing on conceptual and empirical studies of globalisation as a complex and conflict-ridden process, and on modern and contemporary challenges to existing socio-economic relations, political actors, entrenched identities and everyday life which are posed by new conceptions of gender, nation, class, and ethnicity.
Managing interculturalism, focusing on the challenges to private firms and public policy posed by the increasingly transnational nature of production of goods and services, international migration, and the increased cultural creolisation of consumption in large parts of the world, from everyday household goods to exotic tourism experiences.
Requirements
Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD program and the stay at SPIRIT should be an integral part of their PhD studies.

Practical information
Travel to and from Aalborg as well as a monthly subsistence allowance of DKK 7,000 (approx. EUR 938/US$ 1,270) are covered. Visiting doctoral candidates will be provided with desk space, a personal computer with internet access and access to the Aalborg University Library. In addition PhD candidates will be allocated a personal supervisor during their stay at SPIRIT.

SPIRIT will assist visiting PhD candidates in finding accommodation in Aalborg. Furthermore, Danish language classes are available at Aalborg University free of charge for those interested.

Application Procedure
Applicants are required to fill in the application form and enclose the following documents:

A letter motivating the choice of SPIRIT as a suitable place to carry out your research.
Specification of the topic of your PhD project (max. 5 pages).
An outline of the work which you propose to undertake while based at SPIRIT. Please note that the work must be an integral part of the PhD project (max. 2 pages)
Research experience, number of years of full-time PhD research, and expected date of award of doctorate.
Documentation of enrollment in a PhD program
Supervisor reference(s) (must state that the stay is recognized as an integral part of your PhD project)

Taiwan Financial Aids at The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Taipei University of Technology

Located in downtown Taipei, NTUT is one of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan. NTUT was founded in 1911. With outstanding reputation in professional education, NTUT is consistently rated in the top ten by the 1000 largest companies in Taiwan.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE) in NTUT offers both undergraduate and graduate programs, leading to the Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degrees. Currently there are more than 120 undergraduates, and more than 100 graduate students in this department. The department is expected to expand quickly in the coming years.

Financial Aid
The following financial aid is offered for students of this program.

Tuition is waived for the first year.
Fellowship of $10,000 NT (approximately $320 USD) per month is granted for the first year.
After the first year, fellowship, research assistantship and teaching assistantship will be granted based on the academic record and research achievement.
Qualifications and Applications

Program size: 10 to 15 foreign students in MS program.
All applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related fields from an accredited institution.

Informasi Beasiswa Monbukagakusho Program Research Student Keberangkatan 2008 untuk Umum

Pendaftaran untuk keberangkatan tahun 2008 dibuka tanggal 30 Maret 2007 dan akan ditutup pada 11 Mei 2007.

Mereka yang lulus seleksi dokumen akan kami hubungi satu minggu sebelum ujian. Ujian tertulis akan dilaksanakan pada 25 Juni 2007, kemudian ujian wawancara dilaksanakan antara 25 Juni - 6 Juli 2007 (jadwal setiap peserta akan diberitahukan kemudian).
Program ini ditujukan untuk mereka yang berminat dalam program research student di perguruan tinggi di Jepang.

Peminat pada waktu menjalani research student diperbolehkan melamar ke program degree (S-2 / S-3 / professional graduate course) atau meneruskan program S-3 setelah menyelesaikan program S-2 / professional graduate course, apabila lulus seleksi tes ujian yang diberikan oleh universitas yang bersangkutan.

Peminat juga dapat langsung masuk ke program degree tanpa mengikuti research student apabila telah mendapatkan izin dari universitas yang bersangkutan. Beasiswa diberikan tanpa ikatan dinas, mencakup biaya kuliah dan biaya hidup.

TAHAP PENYELEKSIAN

Kedutaan Besar Jepang melakukan seleksi dokumen, dan akan memberitahukan kepada mereka yang lolos 1 (satu) minggu sebelum ujian tertulis. (Kurang lebih 100 pelamar dipilih melalui seleksi dokumen ini.)

Ujian tertulis Bahasa Jepang dan Bahasa Inggris akan dilaksanakan di Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan atau Makasar pada tanggal 25 Juni 2007. (Bahasa Inggris sebagai ujian pilihan. Nilai yang lebih tinggi akan dipakai untuk pertimbangan seleksi.)

Wawancara akan diadakan di Jakarta bagi seluruh peserta ujian tertulis dari tanggal 25 Juni sampai dengan 6 Juli sesuai dengan jadwal yang sudah ditentukan oleh Kedubes Jepang (biaya transportasi dan akomodasi tidak disediakan Kedubes Jepang).

Bagi yang lolos seleksi di Kedubes Jepang (43 orang), akan diberikan surat keterangan sbb: 1 berkas formulir beserta dokumen yang telah diberi stamp Kedubes Jepang, surat keterangan untuk perguruan tinggi di Jepang, dan lembar “Letter of Acceptance”. Pelamar boleh memilih maksimal 3 perguruan tinggi untuk mendapatkan izin penerimaan sebagai mahasiswa program degree atau research student, atau “Letter of Acceptance” (izin penerimaan tidak resmi) sebagai research student.

A Pendahuluan

Dewasa ini, minat lulusan lembaga pendidikan pondok pesantren untuk melanjutkan studi di perguruan tinggi tidak hanya terkonsentrasi pada kajian-kajian keislaman (Islamic Studies) di IAIN atau STAIN semata. Banyak diantara mereka memiliki potensi akademik yang mumpuni dalam bidang ilmu sosial
(social science) dan ilmu alam (natural science). Hal ini terbukti dengan keikutsertaan para santri mengikuti seleksi program Beasiswa Departemen Agama di berbagai perguruan tinggi yang terus meningkat. Antusias ini tentu sangat menggembirakan dan harus direspon dengan berbagai upaya untuk mengembangkan dan meningkatkan kemampuan sains dan teknologi di pondok pesantren.

Respon riil dari upaya di atas adalah adanya perluasan kerjasama Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Islam dengan beberapa perguruan tinggi dan sekaligus penambahan jumlah kuota santri yang akan diterima sebagai peserta program beasiswa santri berprestasi. Gagasan besar ini tentu membutuhkan langkah-langkah yang sinergis dari berbagai pihak termasuk di dalamnya adalah sosialisasi yang intens dan dini kepada perguruan tinggi penyelenggara, penyelenggara seleksi di di daerah, serta calon peserta dari pondok pesantren.

Sebagai realisasi dari gagasan tersebut, maka Direktorat Pendidikan Diniyah dan Pondok Pesantren Ditjen Pendidikan Islam memandang perlu untuk menyusun dan mensosialisasikan panduan test/seleksi calon mahasiswa S1 Program Beasiswa Santri Berprestasi Departemen Agama RI tahun akademik 2006/2007 ini.

B Dasar Hukum
Program Santri Berprestasi Penerima Beasiswa Departemen Agama RI. yang studi di ITB, UGM, ITS, IPB, UNAIR, UIN, dan IAIN merupakan tindak lanjut dari ditandatanginya:
1. Naskah kesepahaman Nomor 07/MOU/2005 dan DJ.II/120/05 Naskah Kerjasama Nomor 06/SPK/2005 dan Dt.II.II/91/2005 antara Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) dan Departemen Agama (Depag) dalam rangka penerimaan calon mahasiswa Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) program sarjana (S1) jalur Beasiswa Utusan Daerah (BUD) melalui pondok pesantren.
2. Naskah Kesepahaman Antara Direktur Jenderal Pendidikan Islam Departemen Agama RI. dengan Rektor Institut Teknologi Bandung Nomor: DJ.II/57/06 dan Nomor 009/K01/DN/2006 tertanggal 27 Maret 2006 tentang Kerjasama dalam bidang pendidikan, penelitian, pengembangan dan penerapan IPTEK bagi pengembangan madrasah, pondok pesantren, perguruan tinggi agama Islam, pendidikan agama Islam pada sekolah, dan di lingkungan Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Islam.
3. Perjanjian Kerjasama Pelaksanaan Program Nomor UIN/ER/OT/01.6/ 398/VI/2005 dan nomor DT.II.II/107/05 antara UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta dengan Direktorat Pendidikan Keagamaan dan Podok Pesantren, Direktur Jenderal Kelembagaan Agama Islam, Departemen Agama RI dalam rangka penerimaan mahasiswa program sarjana jalur PMDK Khusus Pondok Pesantren Program Studi Pendidikan Dokter dan Kesehatan Masyarakat.
4. Naskah Kesepahaman Nomor 020/ITS/KS/I/2006 dan DJ.II/13/06 Perjanjian Kerjasama Nomor 021/ITS/KS/I/2006 dan Dt.II.II/24/2006 antara Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) Surabaya dengan Departemen Agama (Depag) dalam rangka Pelaksanaan Pendidikan Program Sarjana (S1) Melalui Beasiswa Departemen Agama Jalur PMDK Kemitraan.
5. Naskah Kesepahaman Nomor 1170/PI/KS/2006 dan DJ.II/46/2006 Perjanjian Kerjasama Nomor 1022/PI/Dir. Akademik/2006 dan Dt.II.II/66/ 06 antara Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta dengan Departemen Agama (Depag) Dalam Rangka Pelaksanaan Pendidikan Program Sarjana ( S1) Melalui Beasiswa Departemen Agama Jalur Penelusuran Bibit Uggul Pembangunan Derah (PBUD) Khusus Pondok Pesantren.
6. Perjanjian Kerjasama Pelaksanaan Program Nomor In.03.1/PP.00.9/ 482a/P/2006 dan Nomor Dt.II.II/76/06 tanggal 27 Maret 2006 antara IAIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya dengan Direktorat Pendidikan Diniyah dan Pondok Pesantren, Direktur Jenderal Pendidikan Islam, Departemen Agama RI dalam Rangka Penerimaan Mahasiswa Program Sarjana Jalur PMDK Khusus Pondok Pesantren Program Studi Syari¡¦ah.

C Tujuan
Memilih santri berprestasi yang memiliki kemampuan akademik, kematangan pribadi, kemampuan penalaran, dan potensi untuk dapat mengikuti dan menyelesaikan pendidikan program sarjana S1 di perguruan tinggi yang telah menjalin kerjasama dengan Departemen Agama RI. sesuai minat dan bakatnya dalam batas waktu yang telah ditetapkan dalam Program Santri Berprestasi Penerima Beasiswa Departemen Agama RI.

D Persyaratan Santri Calon Penerima Beasiswa
1 Santri yang belajar pada Madrasah Aliyah (MA) dan sederajat di pondok pesantren.
2 Sedang mengikuti pendidikan pada MA dan sederajat di pondok pesantren.
3 Memiliki prestasi yang baik (terbaik 1-3) di sekolah selama pendidikan. Bagi program IPA nilai rata-rata mata pelajaran Matematika, Fisika, Kimia, Biologi, dan Bahasa Inggris selama 5 semester minimal 7 dan tidak terdapat nilai 5 untuk mata pelajaran tersebut.
4 Diajukan oleh Pimpinan Pondok Pesantren yang bersangkutan.
5 Pada saat mendaftar berumur tidak lebih dari 20 tahun dan belum menikah.
6 Berbadan sehat, tidak memiliki latar belakang penyakit akut/kronis, tidak buta warna, dan bebas narkoba yang dibuktikan dengan surat keterangan dari dokter.
7 Bersedia dikeluarkan dari pencalonan penerima beasiswa apabila dinyatakan tidak lulus Ujian Nasional tahun 2007.
8 Keluarga bersedia menanggung komponen biaya lain yang tidak ditanggung oleh Departemen Agama RI.
9 Bersedia mengikuti bridging program/matrikulasi/orientasi yang dilaksanakan oleh Departemen Agama bekerjasama dengan perguruan tinggi yang bersangkutan selama + 2 bulan.
10 Bersedia mengembangkan sains dan teknologi di pondok pesantren asal setelah selesai masa studi, dibuktikan dengan perjanjian antara calon mahasiswa dengan Departemen Agama.
E Prosedur Pengajuan
1 Pimpinan pondok pesantren mengajukan santri yang memenuhi syarat ke Kantor Wilayah Departemen Agama masing-masing selambat-lambatnya tanggal 15 Pebruari 2007. Selain menyertakan dokumen persyaratan di atas, pengajuan santri dilengkapi dengan dokumen sebagai berikut:
a Surat pengajuan dari pimpinan pondok pesantren yang bersangkutan.
b Surat pernyataan dari calon peserta program (contoh format terlampir).
c Pas photo berwarna dan terbaru, dengan ukuran 3 x 4 cm sebanyak 4 lembar.
d Photo copy raport dari kelas 1 semester 1 sampai dengan kelas III semester 5 yang telah dilegalisir Kepala MA masing-masing.
e Foto copy akte kelahiran atau surat kenal lahir.
f Formulir yang telah diisi dan ditandatangani peserta program, meliputi:
(i) Kemampuan diri pelamar (Lampiran A1).
(ii) Keadaan Pondok Pesantren dan MA/SMA (Lampiran A1).
(iii) Sosial ekonomi kelurga (Lampiran A3).
(iv) Anda dan perguruan tinggi (Lampiran B1).
(v) Biodata pelamar (Lampiran B2), bermaterai diisi dengan tulisan tangan pelamar.
(vi) Surat lamaran (Lampiran B5) bermaterai yang ditulis tangan oleh pelamar dan disetujui oleh orang tua/wali.
2 Berdasarkan surat pengajuan dari Pimpinan pondok pesantren, Kantor Wilayah Departemen Agama kemudian menyeleksi dan merekapitulasi calon mahasiswa yang memenuhi persyaratan akademik dan administratif. Dokumen yang telah diseleksi dan direkapitulasi selanjutnya dikirim ke Departemen Agama RI. Up. Direktorat pendidikan Diniyah dan Pondok Pesantren, Jl. Lapangan Banteng Barat 3-4 Jakarta Pusat. Telp./fax.021-3811810. Dokumen peserta sudah diterima oleh Departemen Agama Pusat paling lambat tanggal 16 Pebruari 2007 untuk diproses lebih lanjut.
3 Departemen Agama Pusat memanggil santri yang memenuhi syarat untuk mengikuti test/seleksi calon mahasiswa S1 program santri berprestasi penerima beasiswa Departemen Agama RI.
4 Pelamar hanya diperkenankan memilih satu perguruan tinggi pilihan (ITB/IPB/UIN /UGM/ITS/UNAIR/IAIN).
5 Penempatan fakultas dan program studi mahasiswa didasarkan atas bakat dan minat serta ketentuan yang berlaku di masing-masing perguruan tinggi.
F Mekanisme Seleksi
1 Test/seleksi dilaksanakan Departemen Agama RI. bekerjasama dengan perguruan tinggi yang telah menjalin kerjasama dengan Departemen Agama RI.
2 Test/seleksi akan dilaksanakan secara serentak di Kantor Wilayah Departemen Agama yang ditunjuk pada tanggal 22 Pebruari 2007.
3 Khusus bagi calon penerima beasiswa S1 ITB, santri akan ditest/seleksi dalam dua tahap. Tahap II akan diselenggarakan di Kantor Wilayah Departemen Agama Jawa barat (Bandung) pada tanggal 17 s.d. 18 Maret 2007. Biaya pendaftaran test/seleksi Tahap II sebesar Rp. 600.000,- (enam ratus ribu rupiah) per peserta ditanggung sepenuhnya oleh Departemen Agama, sedangkan komponen pembiayaan lainnya (transport, akomodasi, konsumsi, dan alat tulis) sepenuhnya menjadi tanggung jawab lembaga pondok pesantren pengirim atau orang tua/wali yang bersangkutan.
4 Sistem penetapan calon penerima beasiswa pada prinsipnya didasarkan pada pertimbangan hasil nilai test tertulis. Nilai raport peserta menjadi bahan pertimbangan terakhir apabila hasil nilai test beberapa peserta tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan.
G Materi Test/Seleksi
Santri yang memenuhi syarat akan diberi kesempatan untuk berkompetisi melalui test tertulis. Materi test tertulis meliputi:
1 Test Bakat Skolastik (TBS)
Ujian ini untuk mengukur kemampuan dalam logika dan penalaran, sehingga dapat dievaluasi kemampuan santri untuk melanjutkan pendidikan tinggi. Materi dibuat oleh (PUSPENDIK)
2 Test Kemampuan Akademik
Ujian ini terdiri atas materi IPA (mencakup Matematika, Fisika, Kimia, dan Biologi) terpadu, untuk mengukur potensi prestasi akademik santri calon mahasiswa. Materi test/seleksi dibuat oleh masing-masing perguruan tinggi.
3 Test Kemampuan Bahasa Inggris
Ujian ini untuk mengukur kemampuan dalam berbahasa Inggris, sehingga dapat dievaluasi kemampuan komunikasi santri dalam bahasa Inggris untuk melanjutkan pendidikan tinggi.
4 Test Kepesantrenan
Ujian ini untuk mengukur kemampuan kepesantrenan (penguasaan kitab kuning) bagi santri berprestasi calon penerima beasiswa Departemen Agama RI.
5 Test Bahasa Arab (tertulis dan wawancara)
Ujian ini khusus bagi santri yang berminat untuk melanjutkan studi di IAIN. Test ini untuk mengukur kemampuan dalam berbahasa Arab, sehingga dapat dievaluasi kemampuan komunikasi santri dalam bahasa Arab untuk melanjutkan pendidikan tinggi.

I Penempatan Fakultas/Sekolah dan Program Studi
1 Santri yang dinyatakan memenuhi syarat dan lulus test tertulis akan dipanggil untuk mengikuti bridging program/matrikulasi (khusus di IAIN hanya bersifat orientasi). Bridging program/matrikulasi yaitu program penyetaraan kemampuan dan kualifikasi akademik calon mahasiswa dengan kualitas kemampuan minimum yang diperlukan untuk melanjutkan pendidikan S1.
2 Calon dinyatakan mengundurkan diri dan atau gugur dalam pencalonannya sebagai peserta program penerima beasiswa apabila tidak mengikuti program bridging program/matrikulasi/orientasi.
3 Santri yang dipanggil untuk mengikuti bridging program/matrikulasi/orientasi diminta untuk membawa kelengkapan persyaratan sebagai mana poin D dan E dengan menunjukkan dokumen aslinya. Selain itu, peserta juga diminta untuk membawa perlengkapan pribadi (pakaian dan lain sebagainya).
4 Khusus ITB, hasil bridging program akan sangat menentukan penempatan santri berprestasi di salah satu Fakultas/Sekolah yang berada di ITB. Penempatan fakultas dan jurusan/program studi di ITB dan IPB dilaksanakan pada tahun kedua setelah mahasiswa menjalani Tahap Persiapan Bersama (TPB). Sedangkan pada UGM, UIN, ITS, UNAIR, dan IAIN, fakultas dan jurusan ditetapkan setelah santri secara resmi dinyatakan sebagai peserta program beasiswa santri berprestasi Departemen Agama RI. Oleh karena itu, pelamar sudah diminta untuk menentukan pilihan pertama, kedua, dan ketiga terhadap program studi/jurusan yang diminati pada saat mendaftar.

J Pembiayaan
1 Selama mengikuti bridging program/matrikulasi, Departemen Agama akan menanggung komponen pembiayaan pendidikan, akomodasi dan konsumsi, uang saku, serta biaya transport dari daerah ke Jakarta satu kali Pergi-Pulang (Jawa, Madura, dan Lampung memperoleh penggantian biaya transport bus/kereta api, sedang daerah lainnya tarif pesawat kelas ekonomi). Di luar komponen pembiayaan tersebut ditanggung oleh orang tua/wali masing-masing.
2 Seluruh biaya yang diperlukan oleh santri berprestasi selama 5 (lima) tahun menjadi tanggung jawab Departemen Agama RI. Komponen pembiayaan bagi santri berprestasi terdiri dari:
a Biaya Penyelenggaraan Pendidikan (SPP).
b Sumbangan Dana Pengembangan Akademik (SDPA) yang besarannya tergantung pada perguruan tinggi masing-masing.
c Biaya bridging program/matrikulasi/orientasi.
d Biaya pendaftaran ulang.
e Biaya hidup (living cost) peserta program selama 5 tahun (besarnya bantuan biaya hidup akan disesuaikan dengan kemampuan anggaran Departemen Agama RI.).

Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - Pemerintah Australia memberikan bantuan program beasiswa kepada Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS) di jajaran Pemerintah Daerah Aceh untuk menuntut ilmu di negeri kanguru itu.

Kepala BRR Aceh-Nias, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, kepada wartawan di Banda Aceh, Kamis, mengemukakan bantuan beasiswa tersebut merupakan bagian kerjasama antara Pemerintah Indonesia dengan Australia melalui mitranya di Aceh dalam upaya meningkatkan kapasitas pemerintah.
"Dalam program pertama ini, dan baru saja disetujui, akan dikirim 15 staf dari Pemda Aceh ke Australia. Kemungkinan besar mereka akan berangkat awal Juni mendatang," kata Kuntoro usai acara mengenang Allison Sudradjat di MIN Merduati yang juga hadir Dubes Australia, Bill Farmer.

Ia mengatakan, PNS yang dikirim tersebut berasal dari berbagai dinas. Mereka akan mengikuti studi di Australia National University, Camberra, selama tiga bulan.

Selama di Australia, katanya, para PNS asal Aceh ini akan belajar berbagai hal terkait dengan peningkatan kapasitas pemerintahan.

"Kita harapkan, para PNS yang dikirim nanti betul-betul memanfaatkan kesempatan tersebut. Apalagi, ini bantuan beasiswa dari negara orang," ujarnya.(*)

If you are between 18 to 24 years old, single, an Indonesian college/university student presently enrolled, and with a passion for the environment, take up the challenge to become a Bayer Young Environmental Envoy!

Deserving students from all over Indonesia will be selected to be Bayer Young Environmental Envoys (BYEE) and will participate in a live-in Eco-camp that is held in a local venue. The top four envoys will join youth delegates from 16 other countries around the world on a weeklong all-expense paid trip to Germany on November 17-24, 2007. It will be an opportunity to gain new insights on the broad spectrum of environmental protection measures employed by industry, municipalities, and the state environmental authorities in Germany.
BYEE program now on it's 4 years in Indonesia

Bayer and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) have worked together for many years on specific projects, particularly in youth environmental education in Asia Pacific. In 2004, Bayer signed a formal agreement with UNEP on environmental programs for young people and became the first private sector company to work with UNEP. Building on their many years of cooperation in the region, the BYEE program was conceptualized where youths from four continents visit Germany to learn about forms of environmental practices. The program was first launched in Thailand in 1995. Bayer Thai began sponsoring the project in 1996 and has since played a major role in developing program. In 1997, the UNEP Regional Office for Asia Pacific adopted the project under its umbrella. Following the success of the program in Thailand, Bayer extended it to include participants from the Philippines and Singapore in 2001. In 2002, India was included, followed by China in 2003. Today, the program also includes participants from Indonesia, Korea, Poland, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Kenya, Malaysia and Vietnam.

Indonesian citizen, College/University student enrolled in any institution as of May 1, 2007 (students graduating in May 2007 are eligible to join)
18 to 24 years old by September 1, 2007
Actively involved in environmental activities or projects

Good oral and written English communications skills

Children and relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity, or persons, whether they are related or not, living with any of the following are not eligible to join the contest:

Employees of Bayer, their agencies or independent contractors engaged in the project
Individuals or companies engaged in the development, production, or distribution of materials for the project
How to join


In no more than 1.000 words, write your individual proposal for a simple and do-able environmental project in your community or school that addresses a specific environmental problem. First, describe the current situation and environment-related problems in your local area or school, and the relevance of addressing this concern. Then state the objectives of your project, and indicate resource requirements like budget, manpower, facilities, as well as institutions/groups/organizations involved. Be sure those resources for supporting your project are realistic and within reach. Specify your deliverables and target date for completion.
Procedures/rules


Fill up the entry form and attach a 4x6 cm color photo of yourself.
Attach the following documents: certificate of cumulative GPA (IPK, minimum 2.5) from your institution, copies of identification card (KTP/SIM), and proof of environmental award (if there is any) received.
All entries must be accompanied by a project proposal. Incomplete application form and entry requirements will not be processed.
Secure the endorsement of a faculty member OR the school academic department head OR college/university dean OR academic vice-president OR president.
All applications should reach Bayer by May 21, 2007.
Project proposals must be typewritten in English on doublespaced. Handwritten or e-mail entries will not be accepted.
Project proposals, which are adaptations/upgrades of already existing projects are acceptable, but the entry will be judged solely on the basis of new elements introduced and their added value. Pre-existing work or accomplishments prior to the official start-up date will not be given any credit.
Successful finalists shall be asked to begin implementing their respective projects by June 20, 2007. A premature start-up of the proposed project will be grounds for disqualification.
While the project proposal should be the applicant’s own concept, the project itself may be carried out by any number of people, with the applicant taking significant role in its implementation.
The project must be completed or come close to completion by September 5, 2007.
The judges’ decision is final for all aspects of the competition.
Judging and selecting


Applicants will be shortlisted based on the content of their project, leadership and environmental know-how and involvements.
A panel of judges will interview each of the shortlisted candidates to determine their intelligence and understanding of environmental issues, their communication and people skills, as well as the feasibility of their project proposals.
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed. PT Bayer Indonesia will bear all costs for the travel, meals, and accommodations of shortlisted candidates going to the interview.
Successful applicants who qualify for the final round will be required to attend an environmental live-in workshop called the BYEE Eco- Camp. All charges for the travel, accommodations, and upkeep of participants will be shouldered by PT Bayer Indonesia.
At the end of the Eco-Camp, the finalists will be asked to make a presentation before another panel of judges. They will be given the formal title of Bayer Young Environmental Envoy at an awarding ceremony.
Four of these finalists will be declared as the Top 4 Bayer Young Environmental Envoys and will be given the opportunity to participate in a weeklong all-expense paid study trip to Germany on November 17-24, 2007.

Methods
The course combines lectures, in-depth discussions of case studies, short presentations,

Course fee
The total course fee is CHF 2300.- (Swiss Francs) including tuition, accommodation/full board and must be paid 8 weeks before the start of the course. Semua sekolah yang menerima siswa internasional harus terdaftar resmi pada pemerintah untuk memenuhi persyaratan khusus dibawah peraturan perundang-undangan Pemerintah Australia untuk menjamin kualitas pendidikan yang tinggi, tempat-tempat yang memuaskan serta proteksi keuangan. Persyaratan lainnya ialah menyediakan, atau mempunyai akses ke lembaga penyedia kursus bahasa Inggris khusus.

Lebih dari 12.000 siswa internasional terdapat di sekolah-sekolah Australia. Beberapa sekolah dan akademi disediakan khusus bagi siswa internasional. Lainnya masih menerapkan tradisi lama melalui pertukaran siswa mereka sendiri dengan siswa internasional. Pendaftaran masuk sekolah mungkin terbatas hanya karena terbatasnya tempat. UK Bristol University Master Scholarships for International Students

Applicants can be from any country, but must be liable to pay the full international tuition fee. Applicants must hold an offer for a Taught Postgraduate programme at the University of Bristol.

Applicants must have firmly accepted the offer made by the University of Bristol before submitting an application. Conditional offer holders may apply for the scholarship but an award can only be made if conditions are met.
The deadline for applications is 30th June 2007 for those students commencing their studies in September 2007. The scholarship application must be typed (or reasons for not doing so given) and must be a piece of original work signed by the applicant. All scholarship applicants must agree to provide a student profile to be used in publications for the purposes of marketing the University of Bristol.

Penerima Beasiswa Pemerintah Jepang Berangkat ke Jepang

Tujuh puluh tujuh mahasiswa Indonesia akan berangkat ke Jepang pada tanggal 2 April 2007 untuk melanjutkan studi mereka di berbagai bidang sebagai Penerima Beasiswa Pemerintah Jepang (Monbukagakusho).

Rombongan terdiri atas 39 mahasiswa Program Research Student (Pascasarjana); 10 mahasiswa Program Undergraduate (S-1); 14 mahasiswa Program College of Technology (D-3); dan 14 mahasiswa Program Professional Training College (D-2).

Penerima Beasiswa Pemerintah Jepang diberikan tunjangan setiap bulan dan tiket p.p. Indonesia-Jepang dan dibebaskan biaya sekolah. Pada tanggal 1 Mei 2006, 1.553 mahasiswa dari Indonesia belajar di universitas di Jepang, 659 diantaranya penerima Beasiswa Pemerintah Jepang.

Pada kesempatan pesta perpisahan yang diadakan pada tanggal 29 Maret, Minister Satoh dari Kedutaan Besar Jepang dalam pidatonya a.l. mengatakan, “Masing-masing kalian, semuanya mahasiswa unggul yang dapat mewakili Indonesia karena lolos dari pemilihan yang penuh persaingan. Saya harap kiranya kalian menyadari dan sekaligus bangga akan agar berusaha belajar sebaik-baiknya.“

Southeast Asia Research Fellowship Programme for Young Muslim Scholars
The Asian Muslim Action Network (AMAN) is pleased to announce the sixth round of the research fellowship program, Islam in Southeast Asia: View from within.

The fellowship grants will be awarded for innovative research on issues concerning economic, socio-political and cultural changes taking place in the diverse Muslim communities of Southeast Asia, especially as they relate to modernization and globalization.

Themes

Popular Islam

"Popular Islam" focuses on encouraging researchers to examine ways in which Islamic beliefs and practices reach all believers and are reflected through various means of religious. communication such as studying Khutbah in local mosques, reading Islamic booklets, and/ or listening to Muslim radio programs. The question of how Islam can shape and influence, while at the same time is being shaped by, the lives of ordinary Southeast Asian Muslims in various local contexts is just one aspect of this topic that could be analyzed.


Globalization and Identity Politics

Muslim communities in Southeast Asia are not immune from globalization processes. New forms of economic and political integration on a world scale and the accelerated flows of goods, people and information across the globe all create new opportunities and challenges for Muslims in the region. The interaction of global and regional forces with local processes has been perceived both as a threat to Muslim identities and as beneficial to the development of a new transnational Islam. This research theme seeks to explore how Muslim identities in Southeast Asia are formed and shaped by regional and globalizing forces.

Islam and Changing Gender Realities

Rapidly evolving social, cultural and economic processes are leading to unprecedented changes in the societal roles of men and women. Muslim communities in Southeast Asia are being confronted with a diversity of values and lifestyles expressing multiple definitions of gender roles and relationships not always in line with dominant values. This research area encourages researchers to examine how gender roles in both the public and private sphere are changing for Muslims in Southeast Asia and relate those changes to current theological and political debates.

Islam Values, Economic Activities and Social Responsibilities

Studies in this area should examine how Islamic values and institutions can provide alternative economic options to those perceived as condradictory to Qur`anic principles such as riba. Area of focus could include identifying how Islamic economic values work in a modern business environment, analysis of indigenous entrepreneurial models that have been or can be utilized for local level empowerment and/ or studies of the lives of entrepreneurs and the ways Islamic values shape and are re-shaped by their economic activities and social responsibilities.

Eligibility

Candidates must be nationals of Southeast Asian countries, hold at least a Bachelor degree and should not be over 40 years of age.
Candidates may work in different sectors including academia, media, and non-governmental organizations. Candidate must be highly motivated to deepen their understanding of Islam in the region.
Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

Fellowship Value

The fellowship consists of an average research grant of $5,000 to cover all research costs for a maximum period of six months in the original country of resercher, and funded participation in mentoring workshops.
The Secretariat will arrange for editing, publication and distribution of the report in a "work in progress" series.

Application Procedure

To apply for this fellowship program, candidates need to submit a complete research proposal. Proposed research projects should include sufficient details so that it can be judged for its merit and feasibility.

Program Management

The fellowship program is managed by the AMAN secretariat, which is housed at the Asian Resource Foundation (ARF) in Bangkok, Thailand.

Beasiswa S2 Bagi Guru Madrasah

JAKARTA — Direktur Pendidikan Madrasah Departemen Agama (Depag) Drs H Firdaus Basyuni MPd menyatakan, pada tahun ini Depag kembali akan memberikan beasiswa pendidikan program pascasarjana strata-2 (S2) bagi guru-guru Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) dan Madrasah Aliyah (MA). Program beasiswa tersebut diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas guru dan mutu pembelajaran pendidikan madrasah.

”Depag mempunyai program beasiswa pendidikan bagi guru Mts dan MA. Program ini diharapkan dapat meningkat kualitas para guru dan pendidikan madrasah. Peningkatan mutu tenaga pendidik dan kependidikan adalah komitmen pemerintah sebagaimana amanat UU Sisdiknas No. 20 tahun 2003 dan peraturan-peraturan turunannya,” ungkap Firdaus Basyuni di Jakarta, Jumat (13/4) kemarin.

Firdaus mengatakan, jumlah penerima beasiswa pada ini meningkat dibanding tahun sebelumnya. Peningkatan jumlah itu, katanya, untuk memberikan peluang yang merata bagi guru yang belum pernah di menempuh pendidikan S-2. ”Jika tahun 2006 ada 675 penerima beasiswa, pada 2007 ini formasinya akan ditambah menjadi 2000 orang,” jelasnya.

Sasaran program beasiswa tersebut, lanjut Firdaus, diberikan kepada guru bidang studi Matematika, Kimia, Fisika, Biologi, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Arab dan Bahasa Inggris, baik negeri maupun swasta. Selain itu, beasiswa juga diberikankan pada guru Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) pada SMP dan SMA. ”Program beasiswa tahun ini cukup merata,” katanya.

Soal syarat pendaftaran, kata Firdaus, calon pemeriam beasiswa harus mengisi formulir pendaftaran, maksimal berusia 45 tahun dan menyerahkan fotokopi ijazah terakhir yang telah dilegalisir, fotokopi transkrip nilai (IPK) minimal 2,75 yang telah dilegalisir, fotocopy KTP, serta melampirkan Surat Keputusan (SK) mengajar dari Kepala Madrasah atau Yayasan.

Selain itu, calon penerima beasiswa juga harus sanggup menyelesaikan studinya maksimal selam dua tahun. Waktu pendaftaran, katanya, dibuka pada 9-18 April 2007 di Kantor Wilayah Departemen Agama di seluruh provinsi.”Bagi yang berminat kami minta segera mendaftarkan diri Kanwil Depag di seluruh Indonesia,” jelas Firdaus.
Seperti tahun lalu, pada tahun ini ada 15 perguruan tinggi negeri di Indonesia yang ditetapkan sebagai pelaksana program tersebut. Yaitu, ITB, UI, UGM, IPB, ITS, UNJ, UPI Bandung, UN Malang, UIN Jakarta, UIN Bandung, UIN Yogyakarta, IAIN Semarang, IAIN Surabaya, UIN Malang, dan UIN Makassar.”Perguruan-perguruan tinggi tersebut lah yang nanti menyeleksi para penerima beasiswa,” katanya.(amh)

The newly founded ‘Vienna School of Governance’ is a graduate school established by the University of Vienna. It focuses on a multi-disciplinary and multi-theoretical approach to the study of modern governance within a comparative framework. The faculty consists of specialists in policy analysis, researchers concerned with the wider societal and cultural aspects of governance and specialists in the
fields of European, East Asian, and African studies. The core faculty will be complemented by international visiting professors and lecturers. This unique combination of expertise and research capacities creates an attractive environment for students who strive for academic excellence.

The ‘Vienna School of Governance’ offers a research intensive three year PhD programme on a fulltime basis. The call is now open for 12 positions for PhD-scholars starting in October 2007. The American Indonesia Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) is pleased to announce the availability of Fulbright scholarships to study in the United States for the 2008 – 2009 academic year. The primary focus of the Fulbright Program in Indonesia is to promote mutual understanding between the Republic of Indonesia and the United States of America through educational exchange and academic scholarship. FULBRIGHT SENIOR RESEARCH PROGRAM

This research grant is for Indonesian scholars who have a doctoral degree or equivalent professional qualifications. The grant affords Indonesian scholars the opportunity to conduct research in the U.S. for a period of three to six months. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency to conduct research in the U.S.

FULBRIGHT TSUNAMI RELIEF INITIATIVE PROGRAM

This program is specifically designed for individuals who wish to pursue an advanced degree at an American university in a discipline related to tsunami reconstruction efforts or future relief activity. Faculty members as well as other qualified individuals are eligible for these awards. Applicant will possess:

◘ a Sarjana (S1) degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.00 scale)
◘ leadership qualities
◘ a good understanding of Indonesian and international cultures
◘ a demonstrated commitment to the chosen field of study relevant to tsunami reconstruction and/or relief efforts
◘ a minimum TOEFL score of 520 at the time of application.

Program ini khusus dirancang untuk pelamar dari daerah yang baru-baru ini tertimpa bencana tsunami yang berkeinginan melanjutkan studi di universitas Amerika di bidang keilmuan yang berkaitan dengan upaya rekonstruksi tsunami atau kegiatan bantuan di masa mendatang. Staf pengajar perguruan tinggi dan peminat yang memenuhi persyaratan lainnya dipersilahkan mengajukan lamaran. Pelamar harus memiliki:

The ASEAN Scholarships for Indonesia

The ASEAN Scholarships for Indonesia is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar. And the scholarship is tenable for 4 years leading to the award of the Singapore Cambridge General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced’ (GCE ‘A’) Level (or equivalent) certificate.

The ASEAN Scholarships for Indonesia are welcome students from Indonesia to apply to enter Singapore schools at the Secondary Three level.

Criteria:
• Nationals of Indonesia
• Between 14+ to 16+ years old
• Sat for SMP 3 National Final Evaluation Examination (EBTANAS/UAN) and have done consistently well in school

Dates:
• Application period - 2 June to 21 July
• Selection test dates - mid August
• Selection interview dates - late September, Candidates short-listed for the selection test/interview will be notified a week before the selection test/interview dates
• Award of scholarship - early to mid October
• Arrival of scholar in Singapore - late October

Conditions:
• Allowance of S$2,200 (Secondary) / S$2,400 (Pre-University) per annum with hostel accommodation
• S$400 settling-in allowance (once only)
• Economy class air passage to Singapore and back to home country upon completion of course
• Waiver of school fees and donation to the Education Fund
• Waiver of GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level examination fees (once only, if applicable)
• Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover
• Bridging courses (if applicable, in Singapore before start of course)
•There is no bond attached to the scholarship

The selection tests and interviews will be conducted in Medan, Jakarta, Surabaya (if there are sufficient candidates).

Beasiswa Pemerintah Jepang (MONBUKAGAKUSHO) Program Research Student 2008

Kedutaan Besar Jepang membuka penawaran beasiswa kepada mahasiswa/mahasiswi Indonesia untuk melanjutkan pendidikan di universitas di Jepang sebagai research student pada tahun 2008 dalam Program Beasiswa Pemerintah Jepang (Monbukagakusho).

Peminat pada waktu menjalani research student diperbolehkan melamar ke program degree (master/doctor/professional graduate course) atau meneruskan program doctor degree setelah menyelesaikan program master degree atau professional graduate course, apabila lulus seleksi tes ujian yang diberikan oleh universitas yang bersangkutan.
Persyaratan untuk melamar, sbb:
(1) Pelamar lahir pada dan setelah tanggal 2 April 1973
(2) IPK minimum 3,0 atau nilai EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students) minimum 260 dalam jumlah 2 mata ujian tidak termasuk Bahasa Jepang
(3) Nilai TOEFL minimum 550 atau ekuivalen atau lulus Tes Kemampuan Bahasa Jepang Tingkat 2.

GENERAL PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The American Indonesia Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) is pleased to announce the availability of approximately 40 new Fulbright scholarships under the aegis of the Fulbright Presidential Scholarship Program to pursue Ph.D. degree in the United States for the 2007-2008 academic year. The Fulbright Program in Indonesia promotes mutual understanding between the Republic of Indonesia and the United States of America through educational exchange and academic scholarship. Fulbright scholarships are available to Indonesian citizens with the appropriate qualifications as stipulated in the program descriptions listed below.

ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
Preference will be given to applicants who serve or plan to serve as faculty members of state and private institutions of higher education in Indonesia and have not previously received any Fulbright scholarship.

Applicants will possess:
· a Bachelor and/or Master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.00 scale).
· demonstrated leadership qualities.
· a good understanding of Indonesian and other cultures.
· a deep commitment to the chosen field of study.
· a determination to return to Indonesia upon completion of the Fulbright program and

to take up academic positions in higher education upon their return.
· a minimum TOEFL score of 525.

DISCIPLINES
All disciplines and fields of study are eligible for a Fulbright award. Priority fields are: Social Sciences, Religious Studies, Science and Engineering, Law, and Education—specifically, English Teaching and Higher Education Administration.

The Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) program is a new award under which the Australian Government offers scholarships and fellowships for current and future leaders from the Asia and Pacific Region, one of the participating institutions is The University of Queensland.

Samsung Electronics is offering a scholarship to final year students in Business Administration and Art & Social Science and have outstanding academic results (top 10%). Willing to work in the Marketing / Export Division of Samsung Electronics in Korea is one of Selection Criteria.

Applicant Eligibility

1. Applicants must be Indonesian citizens.
2. Must have finished Bachelor (S1) of Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
3. Courses must have included unit of fundamental mathematics in linear algebra, Fourier methods, and probability theory.
4. Students must have taken (and passed with distinction) a general course on Signals and Systems, including material on: continuous and discrete time signals, sampling, linear filters and systems, and Fourier methods.
5. Applicants must have good oral and written skills in English, and a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (245 for computer-based test, or 85 for Internet-based test) or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.



Selection and Verification Process

1. Ericsson works with KTH to identify and select scholarship recipients.
2. Judges decisions are final and no correspondences will be entertained.
3. The academic year starts in August 2007 and lasts until June 2009 (including examinations).
4. Student should be arrived at KTH in early August 2007.
5. Applicants should be in healthy condition and it is supported by recommendation letter by the general practitioner from local hospital.

Announcement of the Scholarship Award Recipients

The winner is expected to be in Jakarta on May 29 to receive the award.

Program Limits

1. Ericsson retains the right to change or terminate this program at any time, and prior notification will be made accordingly.
2. Ericsson is not responsible for lost applications, lost verification of enrollment, or information or materials misplaced or delayed through the mail or other delivery processes.

Participants shall follow the program approved for them. Request for change of program will not be entertained. Participants should participate in all activities related to the program. Participants are not allowed to participate in any political and/or commercial activities in any capacity whatsoever.

* Participants will be required to return to Indonesia upon completion of the course or at the end of the tenure of the scholarship whichever is earlier.

BELANDA: Beasiswa Exoplanetary Systems Research

Netherlands (belanda) Exoplanetary Systems Research - Utrecht University

We have received funding for a high-precision imaging polarimeter to study the formation, evolution and structure of extra-solar planetary systems by detecting the polarization of starlight scattered by circumstellar material. The available position will primarily be in the areas of data analysis, interpretation, and modelling. The student will also have the opportunity to contribute to the design, construction, and calibration of the instrument.
The position is available starting from June 1, 2007 as a full-time temporary appointment for four years. Gross salary starts with 1956 euro per month and increases to 2502 euro in the fourth year of employment. The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 3% per year. In addition we offer: a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, facilities for child care. Conditions are based on the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities.
