DR GOH KENG SWEE (GKS) SCHOLARSHIP
NATURE AND OBJECTIVE OF SCHOLARSHIP

The Dr Goh Keng Swee (GKS) Scholarship is a private scholarship set up by the Singapore financial community, and is administered by the Association of Banks in Singapore. Each year, 3 to 4 scholarships are awarded to outstanding individuals from the Asia-Pacific regions to
pursue undergraduate
studies in Singapore Universities.

COURSE OF STUDY
The Scholarship is tenable for undergraduate studies in Singapore commencing in July/Aug each year. The course of study should preferably be relevant to the financial sector.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The Scholarship is highly selective. Applicants should fulfil the following criteria:

1. Concurrently apply for admission to the Singapore universities for theircourse of study. Please adhere to the respective university’s admission deadlines and guidelines;
2. Demonstrate leadership qualities and have good co-curricular activities records;
3. Be a citizen/passport holder of selected Asia-Pacific regions1
4. Make private arrangements to sit for pre-admission tests such as SAT, TOEFL, GRE or GMAT; and
5. Preferably be below 25 years of age

DURATION & TERMS OF AWARD
The scholarship will cover the duration required for completing the undergraduate course (3-4 years). The scholarship will provide the following:

* Tuition and other compulsory fees
* Return economy air passage to and from home country; and
* Annual maintenance allowance

The award will be reviewed annually subject to satisfactory performance and academic results.

The selected Asia Pacific regions are Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, india, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

DR GOH KENG SWEE (GKS) SCHOLARSHIP BOND

Successful candidates will be required to work for three years upon completion of their studies either in:
(a) An approved company in Singapore; or
(b) An approved Singapore-based company ¡n their home country.

The deployment of scholars to serve their bonds will be determined by the Dr Goh Keng Swee Scholarship Fund.

Beasiswa: Mensa Foundation Scholarships 2009

The Mensa Education & Research Foundation International Scholarship Program is intended to provide scholarships for foreign students enrolled at colleges or universities in the United States. The program follows, in broad terms, the outline of the scholarship program already in place in the United States. The scholarship process begins during the first week of September and ends with the scholarship
application deadline of Jan. 15.

The U.S. scholarship program is very large in the geographic area it covers (usually about 75 percent of the country), the number of applications (4,000 to 6,000 in recent years), and the amount of money available for awards (nearly $70,000 last year). The Foundation’s U.S. scholarship program is operated by approximately 400 volunteers around the country with support by the Foundation Director and American Mensa’s office staff. Applicants need not be Mensa members.

Eligibility is limited to Mensa members (except American Mensa) or their children age 25 or younger. An application form with more information can be downloaded below.

International Graduate Program for Advanced Science (lGPAS)-Application deadline is January 31, 2009.


International Graduate Program for Advanced Science (IGPAS) is an interdisciplinary graduate program in the Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University.



It was established in October 2004 as the first international graduate program founded in Japanese national universities. IGPAS offers courses in English for international students who are eager to obtain master’s and doctoral degrees from the Graduate School of Science. It is also aims to educate Japanese students to exert their abilities as internationally-active, professional scientists.



IGPAS has proudly reserved positions of Japanese government scholarship for its master’s students since its foundation, and in 2008, IGPAS-Super Doctoral Course (SDC) has been started for doctoral students jointly with the Institute for the International Advanced Research and Education (IIARE) of Tohoku University. Students of IGPAS-SDC benefit from fellowship by IIARE to promote world top-level, interdisciplinary research at the Graduate School of Science.


Prospective students will have excellent opportunities to study modern science and conduct cutting-edge research with top-level scientists currently working at Tohoku University.


IGPAS is a 5-year graduate program as the combination of a 2-year master’s program and a 3-year doctoral program. In the interdisciplinary program, students are affiliated to one of six departments in three groups based on the GCOE programs: (i) Chemistry, (ii) Mathematics, Astronomy, and Physics, and (iii) Earth Science and Geophysics.



The academic year of IGPAS starts in October. The Graduate School of Science will admit at most 20 students each for the master’s and doctoral programs for IGPAS 2009.

Scholarship Application Form

A scholarship application should accompany, or follow, a University Graduate Entry Application.
A scholarship application will not be considered unless and until the applicant has received an offer from Imperial College London to undertake an eligible programme of postgraduate study by 31st
March 2009 (an application for academic admission must have been made by 31st January 2009).

Applicants must personally complete this form by entering the information requested in the appropriate blocks.

A fully-completed scholarship application form must reach the University by 1 March 2009.

Applicants should normally be:

* aged 35 or under
* nationals of and resident in any country other than Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States and intending to return and take up permanent residence there after completion of the proposed programme of study
* intending to study a subject that will be of significant value in aiding the sustainable development of their home country
* of outstanding academic ability, e.g. have obtained a degree equivalent to a first class honours degree at a British university

It is the intention that the scholarships be widely geographically distributed. In each year a large number of countries will be represented. Scholarships will be awarded to those academically qualified applicants thought best able to contribute to the development of their home country by becoming leaders, decision-makers or opinion-formers. Preference will be given to those who have not yet had the opportunity to study in the UK and NL.


Each scholarship will cover tuition, accommodation, maintenance cost and a return airfare for the scholarship holder only.

Please note that an applicant must have met all the conditions for academic entry, including the university’s English language requirements before they can compete for a scholarship.

New Zealand Development Scholarship

The New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS) scheme offers the
opportunity to people from selected developing countries to undertake
development-related studies in New Zealand.
This may include study related to education, health, rural
livelihoods, governance, human rights, or economic development,
depending on the human resource development training needs of the home
government.

New Zealand -Development Scholarships are offered for full-time,
tertiary level study at participating New Zealand education
institutions.
The NZDS scheme has two categories:
1-New Zealand Development Scholarships – Public category (NZDS-Public)
The NZDS-Public scholarships scheme is a bilateral scheme available to
individuals from selected partner countries in Southeast Asia and the
Pacific. The selection criteria is determined by the partner
government and NZAID.

Shortlisted applications, mostly from public sector employees, are
endorsed for a scholarship by the partner government. Employees from
civil society or private sector organisations may apply for the NZDS-
Public in some countries depending on country-specific selection

The NZDS-Open scholarships scheme is a non-bilateral scheme available

independently apply for a scholarship.

NZDS-Open scholarships are generally directed at employees of private
sector or civil society sector organisations, including non-
governmental organisations. In some countries, public sector employees
can also apply for a NZDS-Open scholarship depending on the country or
region-specific selection criteria. This criteria also determines the
levels and the fields of study under which candidates can apply to
study in New Zealand.

University of Utrecht (UU) kerjasama dengan Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) & Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) membuka beasiswa International Master Program on Mathematics Education tahun 2009. Konsorsium antara University of Utrecht, the Netherlands dengan Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa)
dan Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) di Palembang, membuka kesempatan kepada Dosen atau Calon Tenaga Akademik Baru (CTAB), dan guru matematika yang bergelar sarjana pendidikan matematika atau sarjana matematika untuk mengikuti International Master Program in Mathematics Education.
Program ini akan dilaksanakan selama 2 tahun 2 bulan yaitu 8 bulan di Indonesia (Unesa atau Unsri), 1 tahun di Belanda (University of Utrecht), dan 6 bulan penelitian dan penulisan tesis di Indonesia.

As previous year, King Abudullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) now offers scholarships in science and technology for international students.

KAUST DISCOVERY SCHOLARSHIPS
The KAUST Discovery Scholarship is the general scholarship program of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
This program is designed to ensure that any highly talented student who is qualified and eligible to enroll in KAUST will receive full financial support while at the University. Those who receive a Discovery Scholarship will receive full tuition support, a living stipend, and summer and career enrichment programs.

KAUST will offer Discovery Scholarships to all KAUST students – an exceptional level of support intended to attract gifted and talented students from Saudi Arabia and from other countries around the world.

KAUST will offer a pre-enrollment version of this general scholarship program to students attending first-university or bachelor`s degree programs. KAUST will provide financial support to pre-enrollment Discovery Scholarship recipients at their home institutions prior to the University`s opening. Upon graduation, these students will enter KAUST as master`s degree students in September 2009 and 2010 to complete their graduate studies on a fully funded scholarship.

Recipients of the KAUST Discovery Scholarship represent future leaders in science, engineering and technology.

Students may apply for a KAUST Discovery Scholarship directly, or they may be nominated by a professor at their institution.

ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION

Note: Students studying at universities in Europe should contact scholarships@kaust.edu.sa to receive information on special eligibility considerations for Europe.

To apply for the KAUST Discovery Scholarship, you must met the following eligibility requirements:

* Be currently enrolled in a bachelor`s/first university degree program in a KAUST-relevant field of study
* Current field of study must be in a KAUST-relevant area, such as Engineering, Mathematics, or the Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences
* Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent in other international grading systems
* Ability to enroll at KAUST in 2009, 2010, or 2011
* Must submit a minimum TOEFL score of 79 on the IBT (Internet Based Test) or 6.0 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) upon award offer. A TOEFL or IELTS score is not required if the applicant is a native speaker of English or attended a university in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand
* Official bachelor’s university transcript (must be in English to be accepted). A scan of the official transcript must be uploaded into the online application form and a hard copy, in a university sealed envelope, must be mailed to:

o A living stipend based on your current city and country of residence

o An allowance to purchase a laptop.

ONLINE APPLICATION AND INFORMATION

There are four components to the KAUST Discovery Scholarship application:

1. Online student section with essays
2. Letters of recommendation
3. Official university record of achievement (transcripts)
4. Official TOEFL or IELTS English language proficiency score

Students who currently receive funding and/or scholarships at their current institution are eligible. KAUST will consider these other funding sources when determining the Discovery Scholarship award amount. Students should check with their university financial aid offices if they have questions regarding their funding, awards, and scholarships.

Applicants who are unable to produce an English language proficiency test score by the deadline may still apply. If selected, the award offer will be considered conditional until the student can provide a satisfactory test score at a later date.

Interviews, to be conducted in English, are required for finalists in the selection process. KAUST representatives or faculty will conduct interviews in person.

DEADLINES

The Discovery Scholarship Online Application deadline is Friday, January 16th, 2009. All official documents sent by mail must be received by the KAUST Scholarship Office by that date.
