* be admitted to The University of Melbourne through Access Melbourne
* have attended school and resided within a 250 km radius of the Mildura G.P.O for not less than 12 months preceding the date of their initial application for a scholarship;
* require assistance with the expense of moving to Melbourne, living expenses during their course, or tuition fees.

Awards are based on consideration of the following Access Melbourne categories:

* Completed school in a rural or isolated area
* Hardship caused by socio-economic circumstances

The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries and geographical areas. The program sponsors several types of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies.

Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarships
The Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarships are available to students for either three or six months of intensive language study
and cultural immersion in another country. This award provides funds to cover round-trip transportation, language training expenses, and homestay living arrangements. Applications are considered for candidates interested in studying Arabic, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, and Swedish.

To mark the launch of the program, BSL has established a Future Leader Scholarship to reward a future leader’s plan for professional growth by granting him/her with a scholarship to the new MBA program.

Siegfried Gerlach, President & CEO of Siemens, and Benoit Dumont, Chairman of JP Morgan, were among the executives consulted in designing the BSL MBA and will act as honorary BSL judges in selecting the scholarship recipient.

BSL’s new MBA program focuses on personal leadership. It highlights success criteria defined by business leaders: adaptability to change, the ability to grasp the bigger picture, to remain calm under pressure, to communicate effectively, and to work well in a team.

To develop the new MBA program, BSL interviewed business executives from companies such as ABB, Allianz, Alcoa, AstraZeneca, BCV, Bobst, British Petroleum, Bulgari, Cadbury, Coop, Ernst & Young, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, JP Morgan, Kaz, Kudelski Group, Medtronic, Migros, Nespresso, Nestle, Novartis, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Siemens, Starbucks, UBS, Vibro-Meter.

The Future Leader Scholarship award may be applied to the BSL Executive MBA
, Full-time MBA or Flex-MBA degree program. The Executive MBA takes place on Saturdays and is completed in 1½ years. The full-time and flex programs follow a modular format, with the full-time being completed in 1 year. Participants in the part-time, Flex-MBA determine their own study schedule and may take up to 3 years to complete. Tuition for an MBA at BSL is CHF 44,800.

The new MBA programs begin in September, with guaranteed openings for those applying in May and June.

To apply for the scholarship, eligible candidates are asked to submit an essay of 2000-2500 words on how they will use a BSL MBA to achieve their professional vision(s). All applications and essays must be received by July 31, 2009.

BSL is pleased to establish the Future Leader Scholarship to mark the launch of its redesigned modular MBA program. BSL’s new MBA aims to develop future leaders for tomorrow’s business challenges.

IRCSET `Embark Initiative` Postgraduate Scholarship
Description of scheme
Second Call 2009

The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET) `EMBARK`
Scheme offers opportunities for suitably qualified students to pursue a postgraduate degree by research. The Scheme supports basic research in the broad areas of Science, Engineering and Technology. The call for applications opens on June 9th 2009 for students and researchers hoping to begin postgraduate research in the Republic of Ireland in October 2009. While a majority of postgraduate Scholarships awarded by the Council are offered to European uni0n (EU) citizens or to those who are ordinarily resident within a member state of the EU, a proportion of awards are also offered to exceptional candidates who are ordinarily resident in non EU member states.

Scholarships are awarded only to those who will be full-time students and who will engage fulltime in research during the period of the award. Students awarded under the scheme must maintain their principle residence in Ireland during the term of the Scholarship and Scholarships must be held at a recognised third-level institution in Ireland.



The Scholarship awards are valued at €24,003 per year of award. Of this amount €16,002 is paid as a maintenance award to the Scholar. The remaining €8,001 is allocated to cover payment of fees to the Research Body, and support for the research to be carried out.

GOVERNMENT OF IRELAND SCHOLARSHIPS IN SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
Description of Scheme
The duration of the award will normally be 36 months for PhD Funding. Funding for a M.Sc. (by research) will normally be for 12 months. Recipients of the award at M.Sc. level are encouraged to continue to a PhD providing that the additional funding period is agreed with IRCSET in advance.

Applications for funding under the scheme are accepted by an online electronic application system available at our website www.ircset.ie from June 9th 2009.

In addition to applications for Embark Initiative Funding applicants may also apply, using the online application system, for funding under IRCSET`s Enterprise Partnership Scheme. The Enterprise Partnership Scheme offers researchers the opportunity to gain additional valuable experience while completing their research by working closely with a relevant industry partner as well as providing insights into some of the commercial factors stimulating research in Ireland. Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI), through the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology, provide a number of additional scholarships in areas of sustainable energy. Students working in areas ranging from the grid integration of wind to the applied chemistry of bio fuels have been previously supported. IRCSET welcomes such applications to the competition. At the University of Westminster you can apply for a scholarship once you have been offered a place (either conditional or unconditional) on a course at the University, but before you start your course. Alumni Scholarships


These scholarships are gathered from income earned by the alumni affinity services. They are available to you if you are a graduate of any University of Westminster undergraduate degree and plan to proceed to a full-time Masters degree within the University.


Amount: £2,000 tuition fee waivers.


Eligibility: You must be a University of Westminster graduate progressing to a full-time Masters degree at the University.
