Beasiswa S1 S2 dan S3 - Higher Education Scholarship Programs ICDF Taiwan

Background
Higher Education plays an important role for the economic development in every country, which is one of the core work in the TaiwanICDF. 3 undergradute, 15 graduate and 3 Ph.D. graduate programs have been developed in the below field with 13 renowned local university.

Scholarship scope

(Maximum4-year for Undergraduate, 2-year for Graduate and 3-year for Post-Graduate)
The scholarship is itemized as follows:
1. Airfare: The TaiwanICDF shall provide economy class tickets for the most-direct flights to and from Taiwan.
2. Housing: All students must reside in the graduate student dormitories.
3. Tuition fee: The TaiwanICDF will cover the tuition fee as required by the student’s university.
4. Credit fees: Credit fees vary with the number of credits registered. Credit fees will also be covered as required by the student’s university.
5. Insurance: While in Taiwan, in addition to the mandatory student safety insurance set by the Ministry of Education, each student must be insured for accidental and medical coverage. Insurance fees will be covered for the entire duration of the program.
6. Book costs: Purchasing textbooks as required by your instructors shall be subject to the approval of the director of your institute.
7. Allowance:

a. Undergraduate’s Program: Each student shall receive NT$12,000 per month (NT$144,000 per year) as allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses. The sum will be deposited monthly into the student’s local bank account.(limited to students of Taiwan-Central American Economic Development Fund)

b. Master’s Program: Each student shall receive NT$15,000 per month (NT$180,000 per year) as allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses. The sum will be deposited monthly into the student’s local bank account.

c. Ph.D. Program: Each student shall receive NT$17,000 per month (NT$204,000 per year) as allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses. The sum will be deposited monthly into the student’s local bank account.
*Merit awards: Merit awards will be given for outstanding performance.

**TaiwanICDF Scholarship Conditions

Scholarhsip holders must:
1. Comply with the Recruitment Procedures and devote full time to the program.
2. Not seek employment or engage in political activities.
3. Be responsible for any expense and arrangement to have families/friends coming to Taiwan.
4. Return to their home countries soon after completion of the program.
5. Bear any expenses or risks incurred as a result of any change initiated by them, in the travel schedule arranged by the TaiwanICDF.

6. Fully agree that the TaiwanICDF has the right to terminate the scholarship if their student status is rescinded by host institutes due to their responsibilities that they are (1) found guilty of serious misconduct in Taiwan; (2) found to engage in political activities or any form of employment for profit or gain; (3) found to have unsatisfactory performance or language deficiency during the Program ;

7. Know their accommodation will be arranged and designated by host institutes.
8. Certify the information contained in physical examination form is genuine and will not request the reimbursement for hospitalization in cases of chronic illness in Taiwan. And agree that the TaiwanICDF has the right to send them back to home country should any chronic illness begin to deteriorate.

9.Agree that during their study at host institute, all matters related to the program will be settled in accordance with the school rules and regulations, and that host institute’s decision will be final and will be implemented accordingly.

10. Agree to grant the Journal of SCI, EI, A&HCI, SSCI, TSSCI or Journal of International Cooperation(JIC) permission to publish their abridged versions of theses within twenty pages.
11. Agree to embrace Taiwanese culture and learn basic Mandarin during their stay in Taiwan.
12. Agree not to hold Taiwan Scholarship at the same time.

13. Agree to repay airfare, and living allowances should they decide to drop out from the scholarship without the prior consent of the TaiwanICDF and providing proof of exceptional circumstances, and accept the TaiwanICDF’s decision in this matter will be final.

**Application Procedure:

The application has to pass through Taiwan Embassies in allied countries. Taiwan Embassies screen qualification of applicants first, and send qualified applicants to below universities participating inTaiwan International Cooperation Alliance (TICA), in consultation with TaiwanICDF.

Please also note two application forms need to be filled in. One for the applied program and the other for TaiwanICDF scholarship. TaiwanICDF scholarship apllication form can only be got at Taiwan Embassy.

Faculty Fellowships

Each year, the Faculty of Applied Sciences offers a variety of scholarships to reward candidates who demonstrate exceptional promise and achievement.

In all cases, candidates must have already received an offer of a place before they apply for a scholarship. Faculty of Applied Sciences scholarships are available only for the candidates to start new courses. Continuing students are not eligible.

The scholarships will be awarded on academic merit on the basis of information provided on the application form for a scholarship, the candidate of the English school and the transcript (if any) as well as information already held by the University (c that is to say the application and references).

Selection is made by the Faculty of Applied Sciences Selection Committee of the fellows. Applicants are notified after May 1 and before July 15 of the outcome of their request for a scholarship Faculty.

The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program (GSGLP) - The University of Sydney

The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program (GSGLP) was established by the Goldman Sachs Foundation in 2001. The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in partnership with educational organizations in selected countries, conducts an annual international competition at over 90 top-ranked universities in 19 countries.

The competition identifies and rewards the academic excellence and leadership potential of 150 of the most accomplished second-year students from all disciplines for GSGLP (The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program).
The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program recognizes the 150 Global Leaders’ outstanding achievements and abilities by awarding each U.S. $3,000.
Based upon interviews, 75 of these student leaders are selected to represent the whole group at the annual Goldman Sachs Global Leadership Institute in New York City in July. At the Institute, students participate in leadership training and seminars on timely international issues.

To apply to the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program, students must be nominated by their universities in order to apply for this award. A nomination form can be presented to an academic for completion and sent to the Scholarships & Prizes Office, who will then submit nomination forms on behalf of each nominated student to the Foundation. Only applicants who meet the eligibility criteria described below will be considered for the award. Nominees must:
• have distinguished themselves as leaders in their community or school;
• have high academic standing as demonstrated by grades received in the final year of secondary school (high school) and first year in college or university. Eligible candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.4/4.0 or international equivalent, or be in the top 10% of his/her class;
• be full-time students in the second-year of a university undergraduate degree program at one of the universities invited to participate in the 2007-2008 program year;
• be pursuing their first undergraduate degree (all fields of study accepted); and demonstrate competency in spoken and written English. Proficiency in English is necessary to participate fully in the Global Leadership Institute.

Only nominated students will be asked to submit an application for the Global Leaders Program. Once the Scholarships & Prizes Office has received the nominations, selected students will be given the opportunity to apply. You cannot apply directly. An application consists of the following materials. These materials are not optional – all materials must be submitted in order for an application to be reviewed by the selection panel. Students should contact the program if they are unable to submit some materials.
• A completed electronic application. Application instructions will be sent to all nominated students via email. The application must be completed and submitted online; a printed copy must also be sent to IIE/New York with the supporting documents (detailed below.)
• An official transcript from the first year of college or university. Include an official explanation of marks from the university.
• An official transcript from the final year of secondary school.
• University entrance examination scores. Applicants must submit a photocopy of the official results. Original results are not required.
• Two letters of recommendation. One letter must come from a university faculty member. The other letter may come from another university faculty member or an adult, non-family member who has supervised the nominee’s education, work, or other activities. Letters must come from two different recommender.
• Resume. Curriculum Vitae, highlighting student’s experiences and accomplishments.

Closing Date: Nominations are due to the Scholarships and Prizes Office by Monday, 10th March 2008

These scholarships worth contribute to the height of tuition fees for international students to a full-time master for a period of one year. Eligibility

All applicants must meet the conditions of entry to university postgraduate studies at the University and School of the built environment. All candidates must have been offered a place on one of the programs listed above degree.

All scholarships are available for one year full-time or two-year part-time (or open / distance learning programs), as appropriate, leading to a Master’s degree in School ‘ built environment at Oxford Brookes University. All scholarship applicants must begin their studies in the academic year 2008-09.

The scholarships are open to all candidates from Britain, the EU and abroad, as appropriate.

All grants are awarded on a competitive basis, and thus applicants must have or expect to obtain a good degree (First Class 2.1 or equivalent) from a recognized institution of higher learning, or have experience that demonstrates knowledge and skills appropriate to honor University level.

From scholarship applicants who are the final year students should expect to be informed of the outcome of their degree before July 31, 2008 to be considered for a scholarship. International students must meet the requirements of the English language for their program.

Candidates qualifying for a scholarship partial allocation of funds from other sources may be awarded a “top-up” award. However, you will receive one or more quotes from other funding sources that contribute to their full control tuition will not be eligible for these awards. Eligibility will not be affected by funds for maintenance or for tuition beyond the level of grants.

Candidates who receive scholarships provide financial compensation from other sources of funding that cover all their tuition will not be eligible for these awards. Eligibility will not be affected if a candidate receives funding to the cost of living, travel, books, or other items or materials for school fees beyond the amount of the actual school scholarship.

Deadlines

Scholarships full-time: The school must receive scholarship applications completed on May 2, 2008. Successful applicants will be informed of the decision by the Committee no later than June 16, 2008. Applicants who are offered a scholarship must show by June 30, 2008 if they want to accept the offer of a scholarship. Pplicants failing to notify the school of their intention to take up the offer of a scholarship by the deadline of June 30 lose their scholarship, and it will be re-allocated to the next applicant on the reserve list scholarship.

Scholarships part time: The school must receive applications for scholarships ended June 13, 2008. Successful applicants will be informed of the decision by the Committee no later than July 18, 2008. Applicants who are offered a scholarship must indicate by July 31, 2008 if they wish to accept. Candidates failing to notify the school of their intention to take up the offer of a scholarship by the deadline of July 31 lose their scholarship, and it will be re-allocated to the next applicant on the reserve list scholarship.

INDONESIA-NEW ZEALAND DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Information for intake commencing 2009

Type, level and number of scholarships

New Zealand Development Scholarships – Public category (NZDS-Public) and Open category (NZDS-Open).

Within the New Zealand bilateral development assistance programme for Indonesia, up to ten NZDS-Public and three NZDS-Open scholarships will be offered to eligible Indonesian citizens for study beginning in the 2009 academic year. In the event of insufficient NZDS-Public applications that meet the criteria, a correspondingly greater number of NZDS-Open places will be made available.
The scholarships are available to public servants, lecturers from academic institutions, and also to members of non-government organisations and private sector and other agencies, (preferably organisations and agencies who are working in partnership with NZAID). The NZDS scholarships are for postgraduate study, primarily for Masters level qualifications, but a small number of scholarships for Doctorate (PhD) research are available. Applications for PhD level will only be considered where particularly strong development relevance is demonstrated.

Priority sectors

New Zealand Development Scholarships will be awarded in areas agreed with the Government of Indonesia (BAPPENAS/SEKNEG) as being priority human resources development needs. Priority sectors for 2009 are:

• Rural livelihoods
• Governance
• Basic education
• Human rights
• Conflict prevention and peace building
• In the Health sector, consideration will be given to applicants interested in appropriate study options directly related to community-based, primary health, water and sanitation who are from eastern Indonesia (NTB, NTT, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua), Aceh and Nias.
• With regard to Indonesia’s avian flu response, and to the sectors of disaster planning and management and the environment/conservation, consideration will be given to applicants from NTB, NTT, Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, Aceh and Nias and, also to other applicants who meet the Indonesia specific criteria below.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet the following NZDS eligibility criteria before their application will be considered against the selection criteria, including any criteria specific to Indonesia. Applicants must:

• be a citizen of Indonesia (i.e. permanent residents are not eligible to apply);
• be residing in Indonesia, preferably for at least two years prior to application;
• not have citizenship or permanent residence status of New Zealand or Australia or another country;
• not be married or engaged to be married to a person who holds, or who is eligible to hold, citizenship or permanent residence status of New Zealand, Australia or another developed country;
• be aged 17 or over before the scholarship start date;
• be applying to commence a new qualification and not be seeking funding for one already commenced in New Zealand or another country2;
• not have completed, or nearly completed, a qualification at a similar level (i.e. applicants must apply for a higher level qualification than any previously attained), unless strong developmental relevance is demonstrated;
• satisfy the admission requirements of the New Zealand education institution at which the qualification is to be undertaken, including English language criteria;
• have been working in their home country, preferably for at least two years prior to application, including since completing their highest tertiary qualification gained to date;
• be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to Indonesia’s public, private or community sector (as relevant), and to the development of Indonesia in general; and
• be able to take up the scholarship in the academic year for which it is offered.

Applicants cannot:
• be studying full-time at post-secondary level;
• be transferring from another tertiary scholarship (either in New Zealand or in another country) to a NZDS;
• hold, or have held, a New Zealand Government or Australian Government scholarship in the 24 months preceding the scholarship start date; or
• have been terminated from a New Zealand or Australian Government scholarship previously.

In addition, applicants from Indonesia must:
• be no more than 40 years of age at the time of application;
• hold a recognised undergraduate degree if applying for a Masters degree, or a recognised Masters degree if applying for a PhD. The applicant must have a GPA of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 or equivalent for their highest qualification attained to date. If a different grading system was used, the applicant must submit a certified translated explanation of the grade. Generally, the applicant’s academic background should be relevant to the field of study proposed for study in New Zealand;
• have been working in Indonesia for two years immediately preceding the date of their scholarship application, and have their application approved and officially endorsed by their employing organisation;
• provide honest and accurate answers to all relevant questions on their application form; and
• agree to meet other criteria as agreed in consultation with the Government of Indonesia.
