PhD position in electricity generation systems modeling at University of Leuv
Overview
I would like to draw your attention to a vacancy for a PhD in the TME group (http://www.mech.kuleuven.be/en/tme/research/energy_environment ) of the University of Leuven (http://www.kuleuven.be ), Belgium. Please forward this message to potentially interested candidates.
Focus of this PhD is on the modeling of electricity generation in future low carbon power systems. Demand-supply balancing in systems consisting of large amounts of intermittent renewables, nuclear and fossil-fired power plants with carbon capture and storage will pose important challenges in the future. Advanced modeling techniques are required to address these issues at hand. This PhD has a technical focus (electrical/mechanical), but also relates to techno-economic and energy policy aspects.
The following skills and qualifications are required:
Master Degree in engineering, preferably mechanical, electrical or energy engineering
Advanced knowledge of electricity markets operation and optimization
Knowledge of operations research/optimization theory is a strong advantage
For more information on this specific vacancy, see http://www.mech.kuleuven.be/en/tme/Jobs/Job_electricitygeneration
Applicants should send their curriculum vitae, a brief statement of their research experience and interests to: Erik Delarue erik.delarue@mech.kuleuven.be
